Reaching Australia for Jesus Christ

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Last updated: 25 March 2020 12:00PM AEDT

While many are contemplating life in Australia without footy, beaches, gyms and cafes, we trust you are prayerful about our nation without ‘religious gatherings’. Federal Government announcements on Sunday evening saw a significant escalation in restrictions imposed on churches, with the banning of all church meetings as of Monday, March 23. While we cannot meet physically and corporately for worship at this time, it is imperative that we stay connected in worship, pray for each other and care for each other while prayerfully seeking to maintain our witness.

So, Church family, how are we going to achieve this? Only by God’s grace! To assist us as we prayerfully recalibrate, we ask that you carefully read and heed the following information:

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT – 25 March, 2020

In dealing with times of loss and uncertainty, the apostle Paul stressed that the Thessalonian believers should ‘…sorrow not, even as others which have no hope” – 1 Thessalonians 4:13. Paul exhorted that the true believers should ‘’hope to the end”, that is, they should focus upon the fact that we have a sure hope in Jesus Christ. Likewise, in our times of uncertainty we are not to waver from our hope, but cleave to it.
1 Peter 1:13 – Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

We are further instructed that we must be diligent to rest in our hope in Jesus Christ. It takes hard work and effort!
Hebrews 6:11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

An undisciplined mind works against us ‘resting in hope to the end’. Therefore, the Bible teaches us to ‘gird up’ the loins of our minds. To ‘gird up’’ means to ‘tighten, to pull-in’. In other words, we must tighten-up our thinking and determine to take control of our thoughts by choosing to think ‘Biblically’. As we think upon Scripture, our minds are cleansed, renewed, revived and refreshed and then we will enjoy that peace of God that passes all understanding.

So, what should I choose to think upon? Paul’s advice to the Philippians is pertinent:
Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

True = truth, not lies or that which is not proven fact Honest = honorable, not that which is shameful
Just = right, not that which is a wrong mind-set
Pure = clean, not that which is dirty, unclean
Lovely = friendly towards, not that which is an enemy of God & His Word
Good Report = that which is well spoken of, not focusing on ‘bad news’ all the time Virtue = excellence in character
Praise = commendable, not that which is to be condemned

Beloved, there is so much that we can think upon; this is how we can gird up the loins of our mind! 🙂

Please be assured of our love and prayers at this time; please let us know if we can be of any help to you.
