Dear Church family,
As part of this week’s prayer & bible study livestream, we presented a visual update of the Church Building Project. We are now on the home stretch with ¾ of the work completed. We are looking to the Lord to provide for the completion of the build which is estimated to take place within the next two months. We are in a privileged position to spearhead the gospel with these new facilities at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Thank you for all your prayers and support thus far Church Family of 2019-2020.
The All Sufficiency of the Word of God – Psalm 19:7-9.
We have within our possession a supernatural book in the Word of God. It claims to be ‘all sufficient’, which means it claims it can meet every need of the human heart – Psalm 19:7-9.
Let me encourage you to look up Psalm 19:7-9 and the accompanying verses; they will give insight into the sufficiency of the Word of God:
- The Word of God has the power to change lives v. 7; 2 Corinthians 3:18; James 1:22-25
- The Word of God has the power to impart wisdom v.7; James 1:5-6, Psalm 119:130, Colossians 3:16, Proverbs 1:22-23
- The Word of God will produce lasting joy – v.8; Jeremiah 15:16, Psalm 19:14
- The Word of God has power to guide – v.8; Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 3:5-6, 6:23
- The Word of God has the power to purify lives – v.9; Psalm 119:9-11, John 15:3, Ephesians 5:26
- The Word of God has the power to produce a righteous life – v.9; 2 Timothy 3: 15-17, Revelation 19:2, Deuteronomy 4:8
The Psalmist concludes his teaching on the sufficiency of the Word of God to meet the need of the human heart with two challenges:
- We should value the Word of God more than gold; and as we feast on God’s Word we will find it is sweeter than honeycomb; sweeter than anything we will ever experience – v. 10-11.
- If we want to be fully right before God, we need His Word to reveal our faults and shows us how we can be restored – v.12-14
May God bless His Word in our lives as we saturate our lives in it. For faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God – Romans 10:17
The Anvil of God’s Word
Last eve I passed beside a blacksmith’s door
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
When looking in, I saw upon the floor,
Old hammers worn with beating years of time.
“How many anvils have you had,” said I,
“To wear and batter these hammers so?”
“Just one,” said he; then with a twinkling eye,
“The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.”
And so, I thought, the anvil of God’s Word,
For ages, skeptics blows have beat upon;
Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard
the anvil is unharmed – the hammers gone.

✓ Accessing the live stream services: From this week, there is a new short URL which will take you directly to the live stream page: http://metrobaptist.live Services will be available here from now on, as well as on YouTube.
✓ Please continue to look out for one another at this time. Make it a goal to call a fellow believer during to week in order to encourage them in the Lord. Please let Pastor know if you are made aware of specific needs.
✓ We will continue to live stream our Sunday AM/PM services and our Wednesday night service. Please prepare your heart for the time of worship by dressing-up for church and removing any distractions.
✓ Sing along with the service; remember Godly music is a powerful tool to aid you in your worship!
✓ NEW COVID-19 tracts are available here. Please download & send them out to others. We have had 5000 printed of the tract, Covid-19, A Spiritual Response. We have supplies of the tracts available at the church (they will be in the ladies’ toilet) and at SBBC (in the laundry); you are welcome to pick up as many as you would use at this time.
✓ Church Renovations working bees: As we draw closer to the completion of our building renovations there are some practical needs that can be met by the church family in order to reduce our expenses. One pressing need is for the internal painting to be done. If you are an experienced (not expert) painter and you would like to make yourself available, please let Pastor know.
There will also be a need for help with general cleaning and rubbish removal around the new building area. Please let us know if you would like to make yourself available to assist.
Let’s pray fervently for one another and for our dear missionaries. Let me encourage you to go through the prayer lists at the conclusion of our Wednesday night message either with your family members or with a brother or sister in Christ over the phone. You might consider lining this up before the evening service at 7.30 PM.
