At Metropolitan Baptist Church our yearly theme for 2023 is ‘a Passion for Christ’. The theme Bible verse is from Philippians 1:21 “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Written from a prison cell and faced with the prospect of death, the Apostle Paul provides us a wonderful example of someone passionate about Jesus Christ.
Even in prison Paul desired spiritual fruit (Philippians 1:22). He wanted what God wanted. Do we? We should desire spiritual fruit in 2023.
Paul also desired heaven (Philippians 1:23). He lived in the reality that his life was not permanent, and that Heaven was far better. Do we? We need to recognise that our days are numbered, and to live with eternity in mind.
And Paul desired to continue working and ministering while here (Philippians 1:24). He believed that God still had something for Him to accomplish. Do we? Rest assured God has a job for us all in 2023.
People are passionate about lots of things these days, whether it’s work, sport, hobbies, or family. In the end only what’s done for Christ will last. Live 2023 with no regrets.
Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Saviour, is worthy of getting passionate about in 2023!
